Tom Ripley - IFMGA Mountain Guide
I am a British Mountain Guide, originally from the Lake District, UK. I was introduced to the outdoors by my parents, and have been obsessed with climbing since I was a teenager. I chose to make guiding my career to share that passion with others.
I qualified as an IFMGA Mountain Guide in 2023, and now split my time between the Chamonix Valley and the UK, with regular trips further afield. To give you a flavour of the experiences we could have, here are five of my best days of guiding:
Ski touring on Storstolpan, Kvaløya (Arctic Norway)
East Ridge of Aoraki Mount Cook (New Zealand)
Climbing Prophecy of Drowning, Pabbay (Outer Hebrides, Scotland)
SW Ridge Cholatse, Khumbu (Nepal)
Eiger via Mittellegi Integrale (Switzerland)
When off the hill, I occasionally write articles for UKClimbing.com - the world’s most popular climbing website. I am also the Marketing Officer for the British Association of Mountain Guides; responsible for equipment, partnerships and publicity.
